choosing

It seems like we have a choice each day.
To embrace the life we have been given or to dwell on the life
that we thought we would have and are not currently living.
It is a choice of the will to choose to face the sun and accept
what the day is offering, love the goodness that can be found in it
or to bend under the burden of unmet expectations and
dive into the darkness of anxiety.
There is One who stands at the foot of the path, hand extended,
waiting for us to place our palm in his, and step into the day that
he has given us.
As I put my hand in the hand of the one who created me, who molded
my days and shaped my nights with a single word, I am learning
to set my mind on him.
On who he is. On what he has already done in my life. On his presence.
On his good strong love. On the amazing blessings he has unleashed upon me.
On his unchanging mercy. On his faithfulness even in the face of my wavering heart.
I love Psalm 91 where it says:
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
The rest, the bright thinking, the hope, the joy, those come when we are tucked in
His shadow.
You have to stick pretty close to someone to be in their shadow.
So this morning as I am choosing my mind set for the day,
I am aware of where I am and who He is.
He is the Almighty, the Most High and I am covered by the benevolence of his shadow and
the hugeness of his grace.
I think I made the right choice.
