tired supergirl thanksgiving giveaway

A few years ago Scott encouraged me to start blogging.
And I thought, yes, that is what I need,
one more thing to add to my to do list.
Nurse the baby, do the laundry, make the meals, and somehow
find a quiet moment amidst the chaos to log my inner most thoughts.
And then I went to a writer's conference and the publishers said,
"You need to start blogging."
And so of course, I started blogging.
And I also had to go to Scott and tell him,
"Of course, you were right all along. And you are so incredibly handsome.
And the most funny person in the world....can you set up a blog for me?"
Thus was born confessions of a tired supergirl.
But what I had not counted on was the joy.
The joy of writing. The joy of sharing.
The joy of reading YOUR comments.
(Those comments are like chocolate, I just can't get enough.)
And of course, the joy of knowing there are so many
other tired supergirls out there, struggling with the same things
I struggle with, enjoying the same things I enjoy,
understanding all the crazy that goes on in my head.
A veritable league of tired supergirls.
That was the best part of all.
And I am thankful. I am thankful for your encouragement.
Your readership. Your senses of humor. Your willingness
to come hang out and read my stuff.
So today, thanks to my sister, Erica, and her amazing creativity,
she has designed a tired supergirl necklace from BonBon Charms.
It is made from fine silver (better than sterling),
with a fresh water pearl (like moonlight on a string),
and hold on to your seat, girls, a sterling ball chain.
It's shiny. It's pearly. It's free.
What more could a supergirl want?

A little thank you from me to you. It says -
HOPE. BELIEVE. FLY.
It echoes the scripture that we supergirls cling to with a
vise like grip.

Isaiah 40:29-31 says,

He gives power to those who are tired and worn out;
he offers strength to the weak.
Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up.
But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength.
They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

So here's the deal.
I am not keeping it for myself. Even though I want to and
it would accent my neckline beautifully.
It is for ONE OF YOU.
If you would like this necklace for your very own,
leave your name or a comment in the comments.
Get your comment (1 per person) in by Thanksgiving day.
There will be a drawing Friday morning.
The tired supergirl winner will be announced on Friday's blog.
And thanks for reading.
Again.

ps the christmas charms are up at Bonbon...
you might want to check them out while you are at it!

Okay, first off...this is Heather and not Dave (that's my hub). He'd probably FREAK OUT that his name is associated with trying to win a necklace--he has a blog and I hijack it every once in a while to post, so I used that to comment here...
Great necklace! It definitely fits in the "SWOG" category.
I have been lurking here since Mark B linked me to you, and for that, I'm grateful. I am also a church planter's wife (in the Midwest)and have kidlets running around and enjoy keeping up with a fellow tsg through this blog...Thanks for your authenticity and may God continue to bless you and your family!
Heather Steinbeck :) (again, not Dave) :)

Beth Karrer told me about your blog and I love it! My baby is 11 months old and I was excited to learn that babyhood does end at some point!

My daughter would do great at your house - she's a dancing maniac. I'm afraid I'm a poor role model for her!

Love the necklace, hope it's mine!

Susanna, I too enjoy your blog. I knew from our days in college together that you would someday be an accomplished writer (and fabulous dancer and singer...so many talents)! It's so fun to hear about your darling family of boys. :)

I'd love to have the necklace, but before I even got to that part, I was planning to comment to tell you that I am standing in amazement of how God communicates with us. Literally every single day for about the past week, God has put in front of me Isaiah 40 - the exact passage you posted. It started first at a pastors' wives meeting I had last Tuesday. The next day, the reference - Isaiah 40 - kept rolling around in my brain til I went and looked it up, and found that it was the passage that had been read at my meeting the day before. (I'm terrible with references, so of course, I had not remembered that til I was reading it.) Then, the next day I was preparing to share at our church service, as my hubby had to teach another engagement this weekend, and I didn't want him to have to prep for 2 things, and of course, I ended up looking up that chapter for something else I was planning on teaching on. Etc, etc...and here I am. I think I'm starting to get the message...a very timely one for one extremely worn out TSG, who, in addition to my normal crazy life am trying to restore my mom's house b/c she needs to sell it, now that it's been a year since my dad died and she can no longer afford nor handle the upkeep on it. I'm living on the verge of meltdown, so it's particularly comforting that my Father keeps reassuring me in this extraordinary way.

Sorry this was so long, but I just had to share this 'coincidence'.

Your blog is such a refreshment to me...I'm so glad I found it! Thanks for sharing your life w/us!

It makes my day to read your blog, Sue, and even more so to see that I could actually benefit physically as well as spiritually and mentally by my subscription. Sue, you're such an ispiration to us other moms. Well, at least to me. And I'm not trying to kiss up so I can get the necklace, either. :-)

The Scripture referenced is definitely up my alley right now and fits my situation to a tee. If I don't win the necklace, do you think there will be more so I can buy one???

Take care, and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Oh...don't feel bad about the scale. Keenan is always quick to comment on "Mommy's BIG body!" Good thing I love him. :)

Necklace please!

Love,

So I signed up for this blog a few weeks ago after reading the link from Van's blog. I was attracted just by the name of the blog as a wife, mother of three boys, I very often feel like a tired supergirl. A week and a half ago my husband sustained an injury at work, this injury required surgery which was scheduled for the day of my middle sons birthday party and day before his actual party. In the midst of being strong for my husband, running from hospital to host a party, making a great birthday for my son, I felt exhausted. I found my thoughts thinking boy am I a tired supergirl right now, It made me think about the blog and all the other tired supergirls out there and this gave me a great feeling of not being alone. So to all the tired supergirls out there keep on trucking we will get through even if it is through the strength of the Lord and supergirls we have never met.
