as my friend Paula says...hell has frozen over

The reason for the sudden chill down under? I joined Facebook.
I swore I would never join Facebook.
I said I was against Facebook because I knew once I got on I would not be able to get off.
And what would happen to the children once I got on Facebook?
No one I asked would tell me. They just shook their heads.
Well, I can tell you what happens to the children when you join Facebook.
There is probable cause for calling CPS.
All the children got for dinner tonight was scrambled eggs.
The children are being neglected due to cyber space. And that is wrong.
Sweet Hosannas!
I have been sucked into it's vortex and I am not sure when I will return.
But in case you are already on Facebook and have come to terms with feeding your kids eggs for dinner once or 7 times and you enjoy looking at gagillions of your
friends pictures and instant messaging and adding friends and wondering
how your college friends still look so young and confirming new friends,
you can sign up to join the tired supergirl group....RIGHT HERE.
So we can all hang out together there.
And make sure to invite your friends to join, too...so we can take them into
the abyss with us.
(Pray a sweet mercy prayer over me so I can rip myself off of the Facebook...my page is open on my computer even now...I'm going back.....)
Post your solution to freeing yourself from Facebook in the comments for a chance win a copy of the book.
Comments will be open until 9:00 Thursday night.

Eggs are a good source of protein. Don't be so hard on your self.

Honestly, I think scrambled eggs are pretty good... my kids often get cereal for dinner (which they love) when I'm sucked into such things as Facebook or a sewing project or something.

Welcome to Facebook! It's a great place to promote your book, too!

I was just telling my husband how much I love your blog and then THIS post!! Ha! I was laughing so hard....CPS should definitely be called on my house some cyber days!! Facebook is the abyss...welcome. I'm excited to join your fb group! Whatever you do, don't get sucked into the games on there....my farm, geo challenge, etc. You'll never leave your computer. Ever.

The facebook craziness will level out...believe that...eventually you will be able to only check 2 or 3 times a day and then only once and then you'll say, "I forgot to check facebook today!" In the meantime though--enjoy the newness! Or set an egg timer (sadly I need external controls)...
enjoy the fabulousness.

At first I was going to say, "This too shall pass," but I'm not sure that is true for published authors. Maybe your family will have to hold an intervention. Best wishes!

I know, I finally caved and entered the vortex 3 months ago. Don't worry, it takes about 3 weeks worth of bad dinners to catch up with your 25+ college friends, 25+ high school friends, 50+ Christian friends and 75+ others that you forgot you even knew! Welcome to the addiction :)

Welcome to facebook! I wish I could tell you how to stay off crack...I mean facebook ;)....but I'm addicted too....I think knowing is half the battle!

I fed my kids eggs for dinner often and that was before Facebook. Heck, it was probably before the internet! Just thought you should know, I ordered your book as a Christmas present for the woman who introduced me to the Yada Yada prayer group books.

Again the only man! Quit fighting it and just let the facebook flow! You can't resist the dark side!

I don't quite understand facebook yet, so that might be part of the solution....

Oh, Sue, Sue...a new friend on FB asked that same question when she joined, "How do moms have time for Facebook and still keep up w/ the kids." uh...well, scrambled eggs is the answer! lol.

I'm sorry, I have no solutions other than surgically removing from my brain the curiosity as to what any and all of my friends are doing any given moment of the day. You're stuck, sister!

I actually find that the more frequently I go on the easier time I have getting off. I feel I have less to catch up on. :-)

Ahhhh, Facebook! HOw I love thee! I'm thinking the only thing to pull you out and back into reality is prayer and fasting? And even THEN there is a HUGE draw to the OLE' friends of Old! Good luck!
:-)

I sent a friend request. I enjoy facebook-those friends from far away and new friends that I have made. Plus I have a chance to check in on my sister-who I see very infrequently-peek into her world.

You will make new friends and children adjust....

I have no solution for you. I have my own computer addiction issues...blogs, facebook, email, internet shopping...the computer time just keeps expanding. I have tried setting a timer, only using the computer while my kids nap/have quiet time or only getting on the computer after the boys go to bed. I have computer boundary issues but I love keeping up with people, near and far. Someday a computer 'fast' will be needed. I am sure of that.

Facebook is great especially when I am at work in the evenings and the hubby is at home...we chat through Facebook and its like we're dating all over again. I love it.

There is no solution! But who says there's a problem?!

Eggs are brain food! You want your children to have brains, don't you?!

Just joined facebook myself on Jan. 1st. Decided I needed to stop hijacking my hubby's facebook and leaving random comments on his friends' walls :-)

My love - there is no way of freeing yourself. Once you are in the facebook world - it won't let you free!! :-) It's the latest form of addiction. Thanks for crossing over to the darkside! :-)

Now - give me a book Sue!! :-)

Eh, I just log in to make comments about how hot I think my husband is (gotta throw him a bone ONCE in a while!) so that it shows up on HIS facebook where all his old highschool and college peeps are. I've reconnected to a lot of people but I try to limit myself to about 10 minutes a day or every other day. It's pretty easy because I don't care much what other people are doing and I just chat once in a while if someone I know is on and they start up a conversation. I like it because it's like quickie blogging or something.

I have managed to escape the allure of Facebook. I really do not have the time. Good luck to you.

After a month or so of cyber farming (secretly I want to be a farmer, but we live in suberbia) I just woke up one day and realized what rediculous time wasters all those facebook applications are. I find that if I sign on, I am hooked for at least an hour, usually more, so I try not to go to my FB page unless I need to reply to someones message. That way I usually just spend a few hours a week, instead of a few hours a day on Facebook!

I like Meg's answer (since I don't really have one of my own, but want a chance at that free copy. ;)

Was at Barnes and Noble today...or, maybe it was Border's, can't remember, they all look alike. Anyway, the book was in the database, but not yet on the shelves! Doh! SOON, the manager said. Bursting my buttons! :-)
