what happened to my life?

When I read the title of this book, What happened to my Life? Finding New Passion, Purpose, and Joy,by Danna Demetre, I thought,
"I need to read this book because I say that almost every day!"
I say "What happened to my life?" when I am picking up the remnants of 43 water balloons off of my lawn or I have a basket full of single socks pairs or when I am stuck in traffic with behind the slowest driver known to man and I am having to sing the "Have Patience" song from the Music Machine kid's musical to remind myself to be kind.
So many of us tired supergirls have unmet expectations, disappointments, and difficulties that we experience in life.
We get side tracked with busyness and worry and worndering if we aren't meant for more than the life we are living at the moment.
It's easy to be "glass-half-empty" kind of girls.
So I plowed into this book with great expectations.
And DeMetre met every one.
She is real and honest and soul baring about her own discontentedness in her life.
To know her now, would be to know a woman full of grace, a loving wife and mother, an international speaker and a well known author.
But her past at times, told a different story.
Her story contains some heartache, some painful choices and struggles just like each of us face.
The book shares her journey towards becoming content in the life God has given her.
She also shares different stories of women who have walked hard roads,
dealt with devastation and loneliness and disappointment but who have all come out walking a path of contentment.
A path that leads to the knowledge that God is in control, that he has us in the very palm of his hand and he can hold us there.
The second half of the book is a 40 day plan of rejuvenating your own spirit and re-claiming the life God purposed for you.
Each day includes a small devotional, a place to journal your worship, prayer, confesssion and prayers and a reminder to speak the truth of God's word to yourself.
This book embodies the principle of Paul's, "being transformed by the re-newing of your mind."
It's a commitment but one that could change your outlook of who God is in your life and what plan he has for you. It's kind of huge.
And I don't know about you but I'm thinking for me that could be a great thing.
