clearly the wee elves have been at work

So ever since I have been a small girl I have
always wanted fairies to be real.
Because that would make me so happy to think
that there are little beings, living in buttercups,
sprinkling fairy dust and having parties in the
wood with their magical elf and brownie friends.
Reading Anne of Green Gables as a child only
encouraged this longing.
Anne was down with small woodland nymphs and sea sprites.
All that to say, last night or should I say early this morning
at 1:00 a.m. when we arrived home from our train adventure,
we walked in the house to clean carpets.
Beautiful lovely steam cleaned carpets.
As in o-my-lord all the horrifying stains in my living room are gone
clean carpets (along with those in the boys rooms and our bedroom).
And furniture had been dusted.
And there was chocolate in the kitchen with my name on it.
Jelly bellies in Scott's office.
And welcome home gummies on each of the boy's pillows
which they promptly ate.
The laundry was done. And there was fresh fruit on the table.
And sandwich makings in the fridge.
(Anyone else thinking "The Cobbler and the Elves" here?)
And on the table was a note from Pathway (our church) saying,
"Scott and Sue, we love you!"
It was magical. Truly. Unbelievable. Amazing.
I can't tell you the last time I have felt so completely
overwhelmed by another's graciousness.
I may or may not have laid down on the cleaned carpets
and rolled around in sheer joy and appreciation.
This was a deep and full love that cleaned my house.
What does one do when you are humbled by such a gesture
of love?
Mostly one cries into the phone when trying to phone the
elves the next morning to say a small thank you for such
a large gift.
So...this is a larger thank you.
Elves...you know who you are!
You blessed our socks off.
We are still reeling from the goodness of what you did.
And mostly,you should know,
that the peace and cleanliness that greeted our
rumpled selves so early this morning was rejuvenating.
The best welcome home we have ever had. Ever.
Thank you for making us feel so loved and cherished.
You are the best!
And you should know...we love you back!

It is more blessed to give than to receive. I bet your elves and fairies loved doing it. I always have. There is a special joy that comes from serving God's people. Especially ones that are so gracious and humble. Being thanked is just "blessing" on the cake, Lol
