a little week weary

It's been real quiet over here on the blog this week.
Life has had me pinned down.
Scott was out of town for a conference leaving me to
corral all three boys on my own.
(I did it but it wasn't pretty!)
There was standardized school testing going on which meant
I actually had to have the children to school ON TIME
as they would not be allowed in the classroom after testing started.
(I pictured them in my mind pounding at their classroom doors like
Fred Flintstone did when he got locked out of his house, "Wilma! Wilma!)
Every morning felt like a thirty yard dash.
I am on deadline for a writing project which always
makes me feel like my head is in a vise
as I am trying to squeeze out chapters.
On top of that,
there were the daily radio interviews to promote I Blame Eve.
Which were actually really fun except for the fact that
I can't stop myself from sweating at the kitchen table
while I am phoning in the interview.
If anyone peeked in my kitchen window
and saw me all sweaty and nervous they would think I was a weirdo.
Of course, I would think they were a weirdo
if they peeked in my window so we would be even.
Things have taken a real slide at the house.
I should post a picture of my house so you can all feel better about
you own housekeeping abilities.
The funny thing is when I look over the list of things
that I have on my plate, I enjoy them all immensely.
My children? Yep, love them.
Writing? My dream come true.
Interviews? Very fun despite the sweating.
But I would be lying if I told you I haven't spent this last week feeling
pulled 60 ways from Sunday (my mom's saying).
I find myself this morning trying to get myself together
before church this afternoon but mostly I am just weary. Tired out.
Maybe a little emotional.
Scott says when I am emotional I should wear a broach
so he will know and approach me with kid gloves.
So I am trying to take a deep breath today.
And I am reciting my favorite verse Isaiah 40:31:
But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength.
They will fly high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.
It is a good word to cling to after a long week.
And I am also considering buying a broach.
Scott may be on to something.
