moms rock giveaway week #2: my life as a doormat by rene gutteridge

I love Rene Gutteridge. Not in a weird stalker way but as a friend.
I met her 10 years ago at my first writer's conference.
Her first novel, Ghostwriter, was just coming out.
Rene is one of those friends that you want around.
She always laughs at my jokes and we both enjoy good food and Dr. Pepper.
She heard all of my rejection letters over the phone.
She even witnessed some rejections first hand with me at writer's conferences.
That would be off putting to some - all that humiliation up close and personal.
But Rene believed in me.
And kept believing in me even when it took me 8 years to get published.
So all that to say this weeks giveaway is her book My Life as a Doormat.

It's my favorite book of hers. Maybe it's because of the dedication page.
To anyone who has ever felt stepped on.
For those of you who have ever struggled with people pleasing this book is for you.
For those of you who like to laugh this book is for you.
For those of you who like a good romantic comedy this book is for you...
or for your best friend who also likes romantic comedies.
Put your favorite book in the comments for a chance to win.
The comments will close Tuesday, April 7 at 9:00. Winner announced Wednesday, April 8.
And last weeks giveaway winner is.....

I'm not a mom (yet-maybe someday!) but I just read this GREAT book called "Remember the Sweet Things" by Sue Greene. You should totally read it. And I'd love to win this one!

Over spring break I read "Raising Dragons" which is a book I bought for my middle-schooler to read. It turned out I couldn't put it down and enjoyed every minute of it!

"My Name is Asher Lev" by Chaim Potok is the first book that comes to mind, although I have many "favorites" :-) Love, love, love to read so would enjoy winning Rene's book!

Redeeming Love is my most recent 'favorite' book - it keeps changing though as the years go by!

A.D. Chronicles by Brock and Bodie Thoene. Okay, it's a series, not a book, but I love them! I love most of the Thoene books.

My favorite book... you have got to be kidding... there are so many!
I highlty recommend that you ladies read 'The Red Tent' by Anita Diament. This is a historical fiction, a story of Dinah.... I was just reading about her in my daily bible readings when someone showed me this book and it is so well done, I couldn't have imagined it better.

My fall back favorite is "Redeeming Love." I'm currently reading a non-fiction book that I can barely put down - The omnivore's dilemma. I love it.

For those Austen lovers, Shannon Hale's book "Austenland" is very fun.

Thanks for all of the great giveaways! Did you get my email for the Mother's Heart charm? I have no idea if I used the right tired supergirl email! :)

My current most recommended book is "Good Calories, Bad Calories", by Gary Taubes. Over all, though, "Lord of the Rings" by Tolkien has to win.

Susanna, best wishes on your pursuit of authoring books. Thanks for the blog and for the offers...I think my wife would toss in her favorite book, Gone with the Wind, among many others she's read multiple times, such as Jane Austen's writings. Right now, she's really enjoying Three Cups of Tea.

My favorite book ... can I name my top 100?
One of my top 5 is The Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. It changed my life.

It's a bit embarrassing but my favorite book is by Clean Comedian/Actress Kerri Pomarolli, "If I'm Waiting on God, Then What Am I Doing In a Christian Chatroom?". The title has now changed to "Guys Like Girls Named Jennie".

One of the most important things I have realized by reading this book is that I have stayed in a bad relationship because I am a people pleaser and I can't have someone be upset at me (i.e. bad break up). This book gave me hope that not all men are jerks and that I do really need to wait on God. I definitely recommend it to single Christian women.

Oh wow, I just confessed publicly on my blog that I am a bibliophile so to name one is impossible I still love some favorites from when I was younger The Anne of Green Gables series, of course, the Narnia series, I too have enjoyed Jane Austen's books. A resent favorite is another older one Stepping Heavenward by Mrs. E. Prentiss. Thanks for holding such a generous contest.
Blessings
Cheryl

Oh, there are so many I could list - but I read "Tuesdays with Morrie" last year and that book still stands out in my heart and mind! Powerful story! And, yes - I've felt like a doormat at times too! =0)
