chocolate chip scones

I got a request to post the scone recipe.
These are a favorite treat of our family.
My good friend, Elizabeth, made these for me with
homemade jam (without the chocolate chips).
That was about 15 years ago!
I've been making them ever since.
2 C flour
1 T baking powder
1/4 C sugar
1/2 butter
1 C buttermilk
1 C chocolate chips

Mix dry ingredients
Cut in butter with pastry cutter until crumbly.
Add in buttermilk. Sitir.
Add chocolate chips.
Line a cookie sheet with foil. Spray with cooking spray.
Form dough into a 1" thick circle on cookie sheet.
Cut into either 8 or 12 pie shapes pieces.
Seperate on cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 13-15 minutes or until golden brown on the bottom.

Susanna, I have set forth to make these delicious scones, but I have a question. Is there any salt in the recipe? Please advise. Thanks.

I must have done something wrong, they turned out terrible!

OH RACHEL! I did a terrible thing! I totally messed you up! I put baking soda instead of powder. It is my fault completely. You did nothing wrong except followed my directions! Try them again with baking powder. Again...so very sorry!

Hi, Susanna! I made these scones today an hour before you made the ingredient change! So funny!! Instead of scones I have little soda bread loaves! They are still yummy with butter and jam! This morning my husband had breakfast with your father. He came home and brought me your blog! I look forward to reading more of it...I am a mom of 4 boys!

Oh, Mary! So sorry about the soda bread scones...that is a whole lot of baking soda! Hopefully you can try them with baking powder and have the real deal. That's fun that your husband had breakfast with dad! :) Thanks for checking out the blog - as a mom of 4 boys you are a rockstar in my book!

Are your books applicable for women without children? (I couldn't find a way to contact you; hence I'm asking about books under a post about chocolate chip scones, which btw do sound absolutely wonderful!)

Heather - my books are definitely applicable for women without children. I do use my kids as illustrations in some chapters but they talk more about the struggles that we face as women. In the search for grace I talk about pride, selfishness, condemnation etc. And in the search for truth I talk about different lies that we believe...I'm not good enough, God doesn't know me, God is out to get me etc. Hope that helps! :) and you can get in touch with me at tiredsupergirl@gmail.com :)
