the naked truth

Chapter 5: I Want To Hide From God

But from the beginning in the garden,
nakedness was the desired state.
Nothing to hide. No shame. Literally.
If nakedness was the enforced dress code today,
there would be a lot less ego.
And a lot more of us would be doing push-ups
and passing up chocolate chip cookies.
Mostly because cellulite is so unattractive in broad daylight.

I'm not sure if they were naked before they sinned. They became ashamed and hid and God asked, "Who told you you were naked?" I don't quite understand the whole thing.

It is a good question, Belle! In Genesis 2:25 it talks about the creation of Eve and then says, "The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame." It's only in Genesis 3:7 after they have eaten the fruit that it says, "Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves." It seems their sin is what opened their eyes to their nakedness before that they were unaware of their state of undress!:)
